Homemade Vitamin C Serum For Face And Skin.

Vitamin C is a potent natural skin care agent that you can often find in high-end beauty products such as vitamin C serums, creams and lotions. Most of these products are highly priced. Thankfully, I have found a natural, homemade alternative that you can make practically at no cost. On top of that good news is that it works equally well!

Vitamin C Serum Benefits.
Do you know this humble vitamin C that we take for our internal health and boosting immunity can do wonders for our outward well-being as well? Vitamin C is highly effective as an anti-ageing and anti-wrinkle natural ingredient. It helps in brightening and tightening your skin. The reported topical benefits of vitamin C serum are plentiful. Vitamin C is safe and naturally prevents photo ageing, treats hyperpigmentation, promotes tissue healing, stimulates collagen production and wards off free radicals:

(i) The topical vitamin C serum is a great contributor in production of collagen in our bodies.  Collagen provides elasticity to our skin, which when breaks down leads to formation of wrinkles. Increasing vitamin C in our skin stimulates collagen production which will keep wrinkles at bay and provide us with flawless young skin.
(ii) It acts as a potent anti-oxidant , thus reduces the negative effects of the sun exposure. It protects from and even repair the damage caused by the harmful UV rays.
(iii) It not only brightens and tightens the skin, but also helps in reducing nasty age spots.
Why Homemade Vitamin C Serum?

Vitamin c (L-ascorbic acid) is not a very stable compound and oxidizes very fast on getting in contact with air and sunlight. So, there are chances that when you are buying a vitamin C serum from market, it might have been oxidized – so will be good for nothing. It’s likely that it might work other way round as an oxidant, in place of working as an anti-oxidant. In order to ensure that you don’t use oxidized vitamin C serum (it may damage your skin), consider making your very own vitamin C serum at home, which will work both as fresh and potent. Only use a dark-coloured dropper bottle for storing it in a cool place, as it prevents fast oxidization of the vitamin C serum, and try to create a new batch at least once a week for maximum effectiveness.

How To Make Vitamin C Serum At Home?

Making vitamin c skin serum is as simple as mingling together your morning smoothie.  All it needs is a visit to your local pharmacy or drug store and 4-5 minutes of preparation at home. It being real and refreshing, you can derive the same vitamin c serum skin benefits at a fractional of market cost of a branded vitamin c serum.
Vitamin C Serum Recipe.
What you need:
(i) 1/2 teaspoon natural real food Vitamin C Powder (L-ascorbic acid)
(ii) 1 tablespoon distilled water to dissolve (or rose water) Or 1 teaspoon distilled water (or rose water) to dissolve and 2 tablespoons vegetable glycerin.
(iii) A dark color glass dropper bottle to store (Vitamin C oxidizes easily). You can thoroughly clean and use an old pediatric bottle
Method:
(i) Dissolve the vitamin C powder in the distilled water completely. Just put in the vitamin C powder into the bottle and add distilled water to it. Sensitive skin may call for a little less vitamin C powder. Shake the bottle well until the powder dissolves completely. If you are using distilled water and vitamin C only, you are done, voila! You can store this homemade vitamin c skin care serum for up to 2 weeks in your fridge.
(ii) If you are using vegetable glycerin as well, dissolve vitamin C powder in the smaller amount of water, then pour in glycerin, and shake well to dissolve it thoroughly. You can store this homemade vitamin c skin care serum for up to 4 weeks or longer in your fridge.

After cleansing your skin, apply a small amount of this homemade vitamin C skin serum at bed time (vitamin C increases your skin’s sensitivity to the sun, so use it at night). You can use the dropper to put 2-3 drops into the palm of your hand, rub your hands together and smooth the serum all over your face, neck and chest. Follow it up with moisturizer of your choice. Leave it on overnight. If you feel your skin is dry, use a little more moisturizer.

Natural Beauty Tips:

(i) Measure the ingredients very carefully and do not add extra vitamin C as it’s acidic and can burn the skin if the strength is high.

(ii) In case you have sensitive skin, dilute with distilled water even more. The sensitive skin may feel a little tickling sensation initially. If it happens, consider using it on alternate days initially until your skin adapts to it.

(iii) It’s a great treatment for dry and / or aging skin. Works well even on acne prone skin.

(iv) For those who are having lots of wrinkles or super dry skin, little extra vitamin C may be added, but make sure to work up gradually and test on the back of your ear before using on the face.

(v) To add the benefits of vitamin E, take a vitamin E gel capsule – puncture it and mix in its contents with the vitamin C serum in the bottle and shake well.

(vi) If you desire a scented natural vitamin c serum, use rose water instead of distilled water.

Use the above little magic potion (vitamin c face serum) to make your skin totally flawless and young without wrinkles and fine lines. This makes the skin pores look smaller and helps your skin to look radiant and healthy as well.
